Updating your blackberry curve

O2 has confirmed that it is rolling out the Black Berry OS 7.1 software upgrade to its customers today.

If you're the proud owner of a Black Berry Bold 9900, Curve 9360, Torch 9810, Torch 9860 or Curve 9380 and support the blue-bubbled network then it's time to get out your USB cable and plug right in to your PC.

Once this is done, you just have to click “Next” until the process is finished.

If you own a Curve 9360 or Curve 9380 the update will unlock the FM radio app which apparently has been hiding in your phone the whole time.If you have never done this before, there are a few things you need to know. The first thing is that there are two different types of OS that you can install: one is the official OS, released by a carrier, and the other one is a leaked OS, meaning that it has not been approved by the carriers to be installed.Andy Walton has been a technology writer since 2009, specializing in networking and mobile communications. He was previously an IT technician and product manager. The update does bring various software improvements however, and it also signals the arrival of the Wi-Fi hotspot feature, allowing you to use your Black Berry as a wireless internet hotspot for up to five devices to connect to.
